Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement - Ready to Shake

Iced Latte Flavor

Here's what Bariatric Advantage tells us about their product:

Ready-to-Shake drink and pudding mix

Many people desire the convenience of Ready-to-Drink products, but they can be expensive and heavy to carry around.  Our Ready-to-Shake drink and pudding mixes solve these problems.  Each individual light-weight bottle contains a pre-measured serving of powder.  Just add water and shake for a full meal replacement!

Each 150 to 160 calorie serving provides a full 27 grams of protein, with only 7 grams of carbohydrate (of which 5 grams are fiber, and only 1 gram is sugar) and a half gram of fat.  They are also lactose-free to best meet the needs of weight loss surgery patients.  One hundred percent of the protein is from a high quality whey protein isolate (There is no soy protein, only a small amount of soy lecithin to mask aftertaste).  Fortified with between 15 and 50 percent of the DV for 23 essential vitamins and minerals, this product makes a perfect pre-operative weight loss shake or post-operative meal replacement for bariatric surgery patients.  Our meal replacement also comes in a great variety of flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, banana) as well and an unflavored shake that can be mixed with soup, yogurt, fruit or home-purchased flavorings.

Our review:

Protein drinks are a very individual taste item.  Some I love, some I hate, some I am totally passive about.  The convenience of a ready to just add water and shake meal replacement in a bottle small enough and light enough to carry in my purse, car, suitcase, or yes, even in the tote I take down to the beach with me is a definite plus.

I have not tasted any of the other flavors of Bariatric Advantage's ready to shake protein powders so I can not comment on them.  Their newest flavor - ICED LATTE is really good!  It is creamy without leaving a residue in my mouth, just sweet enough without being too sweet that it nauseates me and really does taste like a blended latte.  Next time I am going to add some ice in place of some of the water and blend it in my Magic Bullet....ok, so there went the convenience, but I have to try it that way.

On a plane, or in a restaurant I would add water, shake it and then ask for a cup of ice and pour it over the ice for a refreshing way to get 27 grams of protein for 160 calories with a powerful vitamin/mineral/fiber punch added at no additional cost.

Two caveats - when you think you have shaken it enough - don't stop- shake it some more to make sure it is thoroughly blended and smooth.  It does get to that creamy, blended point so you are not drinking little bits of protein powder as I have found in other brands.  The second caveat is that my bottle seemed to have a little residue of powder on the bottom that just would not blend.  That has me wondering how much protein I have "missed".  It is really more of a little coating of one side of the very bottom of the plastic bottle that I could not get to dissolve no matter how hard I tried or what direction I shook the bottle.  I'm sure this was insignificant.

The taste is what I am definitely giving 2 yumms up!  So it is tasty and convenient.

I would definitely recommend this meal replacement to anyone who likes the taste of iced lattes.....Remember, this is MY opinion as a patient just like you.
