Lap Band Success - Water, the Elixir of Life and Lapbanded Living!

We all know that water is absolutely necessary to live and survive, especially when exercising.  How you drink your water is equally important.  During exercise, it is best to take frequent small sips of water to keep your system hydrated, rather than larger, intermediate gulps.

Imagine a sponge; if a pitcher of water is poured over it, most of the water will run off as waste.  Pour that same amount of water slowly over the sponge, and much more of it will be absorbed!  When more water is ingested than the system can process, most ends up in the bladder and then as unused waste.

During periods of exertion (exercise), water consumption is needed even more due to the sweat loss and metabolic waste that needs transportation OUT of your body.  Keep in mind, dehydration does not have noticeable symptoms at first...the feeling of thirst occurs AFTER dehydration has already set in.

In summary, don't wait until you are thirsty to drink your water, sip it continuously throughout the day, especially while exercising.  This is the way to maintain proper hydration.
