Lap Band Fills

One of the greatest features of the lap band is that it is adjustable.  The size of the opening between the upper and lower portions of your stomach can be made smaller or larger by adding fluid (a fill) or by having fluid removed (an un-fill) from the band.  This has a direct impact on the amount of solid food you can eat comfortably in one 20 - 30 minute sitting, and how satisfied you will feel from that meal.

From a patient's perspective, it can seem like both an art and a science to get your lap band adjusted just right.  This can require patience, but it does happen if you learn to listen to your body and work with your doctor.

Since fills are such a big topic and are unique to lap band surgery, this section of the Banded Living™ community is devoted to fills.

By: Gloria Samuels, From gloriasbandedliving.com
My lap band has been pretty loose for some time now - in the yellow zone, even before my recent unfill. It's been hard and I've had some weight gain - not enough to concern my doctors since my health is great, but more than enough to concern me. . . . keep reading
Lap Band Fills - The Green Zone
By: Troy Hopper, Allergan Health
So, what's the "green zone" and how do you get there from here? The green zone is an expression that's often used to describe where a LAP-BAND® patient is in regards to his/her hunger and eating regime. Certainly, just because a patient has had surgery doesn't mean they can eat whatever they want or that they can maintain the same food choices they've made in the past. Far from it. . . . keep reading
