One of the greatest features of the lap band is that it is adjustable. The size of the opening between the upper and lower portions of your stomach can be made smaller or larger by adding fluid (a fill) or by having fluid removed (an un-fill) from the band. This has a direct impact on the amount of solid food you can eat comfortably in one 20 - 30 minute sitting, and how satisfied you will feel from that meal.
From a patient's perspective, it can seem like both an art and a science to get your lap band adjusted just right. This can require patience, but it does happen if you learn to listen to your body and work with your doctor.
Since fills are such a big topic and are unique to lap band surgery, this section of the Banded Living™ community is devoted to fills.
