Transforming with Lap Band Surgery

Congratulations and Welcome to the Transforming phase of Banded Living™.  This is your weight loss phase, the incredible shrinking you!  This is your community as you are learning how to use the tool to reach your goals.  Expect ups and downs.  This is not like every diet you've been on.

Your lap band will help with portion size, hunger, and satiety when you learn how to use it and master the rules of the band.  There is so much to learn and un-learn during this phase.  Resist going for speed.  Build your support network.  Stay close to your surgical practice.  Here you'll find others who are all working to achieve their goals for long-term health, weight loss, and quality of life.
--Lap Band Fills

Every year there are 3 significant weight loss surgery "events" where several hundred people come together in one venue for education, inspiration, motivation, and some good, down to earth fun, meeting old friends, and making new ones. . . . keep reading
How Does My Lap Band Work - No Really!
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
During my recent trip to Austin as a member of the Apollo Lap Band Patient Advisory Board I was fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to Dr. John Dixon speak via video conference on the subject of Satiety vs. Restriction. He is an amazing man with a tremendous amount of experience, and looking around the room as he spoke I saw that all present were totally enthralled, and even excited, by his presentation. . . . keep reading

Long Term Lap Band Success - Discovering My Realities Day By Day
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
Yesterday I had a visit with my bariatric doctor. Everything is fine, my weight is steadily decreasing, he is happy with my progress. We chatted about life, weight loss surgery, following the rules, fine tuning the rules for about 20 minutes, and I went on with my day. Sounds like a simple easy visit right? . . . keep reading
Moving Off The Couch To Keep The Scale Moving - Long Term Lap Band Success
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
I have said it before and I can't help but keep repeating myself - Moving my body at least 5 days a week has been one of the major contributors to my long term success. My mantra for many years was I hate working out, I hate sweating, I hate hurting. Somewhere along this journey I have been on since 2004 that mantra changed to BRING IT BABY! . . . keep reading
Random Thoughts Of A Lap Band Patient Seeking Success
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
I woke up this morning (it's Friday morning), jumped on the scale and was pleased with what I saw. I put on my sweats and headed downstairs for my tea and coffee, then I took off to the gym where I hit the pool for 30 minutes of swimming laps. My arms were still sore from my 60 minutes of weight training on Wednesday, but true to form I live in the land of no excuses when it comes to my personal fitness so I did it anyway. . . . keep reading

Lap Band Success - Planning For A Trip To Disneyland
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
It has been a long time since anyone has been to Disneyland. My husband and I finally bit the bullet and the trip is planned for two nights and three days this week. Once I secured our rooms and purchased our park hopper tickets I started thinking about restaurants, food, food choices for the kids and food choices for my lap band, meals with the characters, and my head started spinning for two reasons. . . . keep reading

Lap Band surgery -- My First Thanksgiving
By: Sandi Henderson From SandisBandedLiving Blog
Wow, this is the first big holiday dinner at my house since being banded. I have 15 coming for dinner and am making all of my traditional dishes. I refuse to "lighten" the holidays for everyone around me…not fair……I will eat using a small dessert plate and allow myself a taste of everything and see how that goes…ok, I'll skip the salad, have a slice of turkey thigh (no skin), a tablespoon of cranberry sauce, a tablespoon of chestnut stuffing, a tablespoon of pecan/sweet potato casserole, a tablespoon of green beans and a tablespoon of ambrosia. . . . keep reading
