How many years of enjoying my life did I miss before having surgery? It’s not worth worrying about since those years are over -- and today I celebrate LIFE.
Eating in restaurants can be tricky. TIP - You can order a kid’s meal if they have decent selections, or some places will allow you to order half portions, or, ask the server to put half of your meal in the To Go box BEFORE it is brought to the table.
I challenge each, and every one, of you to find something you have rationalized this past year and acknowledge it, move through it, and strategize a different choice for “next time”
Want to wear that little black dress New Year’s Eve?
Want to finish 2018 without the pain of regain?
Ready to start 2019 off with a smile on your face.
Don’t put it off until next year.
Do it now.
Stay SANE through the holidays.
I walk around with a liter bottle of water everywhere I go. I have extra water in my car at all times. The bonus to all this hydration is that water assists weight loss a few different ways:
After the holidays, and some bouts of some serious family illnesses, I found my weight over the top of my comfort/maintenance range. I vowed to knock off the weight and then some as I have a few exciting trips coming up between April and June.
Funny thing about The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients, they are pretty much the success habits for healthy living, weight loss surgery, or not.
The NSV’s (Non Scale Victories) that my weight loss surgery has provided me include stress free packing, stress free vacationing, and truly enjoying just being ME.
Try it, set a goal, create a daily action plan- follow it through - evaluate at the end of each day and tweak it as needed and see what happens...The possibilities are incredible....
I enjoy helping others to let go of their resistance to the rules and watch their journeys take off and take them to places they never in their wildest dreams imagine they could go.
Feeding these foods to my family to see if they would enjoy them as much as I did. Guess what, they did, from my youngest grandchild through my husband of 49 years all were happy eating my food the majority of the time. They often asked for seconds too. I was encouraged so I kept doing this.
In the process of learning how to cook healthy, learning what foods my surgery approved of, as well as 11+ years of restaurant eating, I have learned what it means to enjoy dining.
By the end of the Cookie Selling Time I have made a nice donation to both sets of troops - the different Girl Scout Troops in my area and the service men and women who will receive my donation as a little love sent from home.
Having this plan in place and following it will allow me to enjoy my time and not worry about getting overly hungry and making choices that are not in the best interest of my health no matter where I am on the island.
An hour spent on a Sunday morning planning and preparing and then replacing and buying fresh and new for dinners when I make my grocery haul later today. It works now, it’s another lifestyle action I had to integrate into my new habitual behaviors and it took time and patience.
Most of Sandi’s RX for a smooth ride on this journey of long term weight loss surgery success is what we all did right after our surgeries until we got “tired” of it and fell back into our old ways.
May I respectfully suggest beginning a group with folks introducing themselves, what surgery they had, when they had it, and perhaps a “win” they have had in the past week? Let’s set up a group for success.
I offer to each and every one of you who take the time to read this the opportunity to have your choice be LIFE, HEALTH & HAPPINESS, and to take the actions necessary to make your goals, your choices, a reality.
Hmmm, so eating at a fine restaurant on a white tablecloth, with candlelight has you eating more slowly than going through the drive thru? Who would have thought that possible? (...wink, wink…)
I have had to learn my body’s signals to me that I am approaching that state of satiety, as well as the signals that one more bite and I will be over the top and running for the restroom.
Am I still too tired to get up and go to the gym? You bet I am, but I do it anyway, most of the time, until I have replaced the habit of staying in bed with getting up and going to the gym.
The best part of all of this is that I am comfortable talking about me, my body, and the choices I make. Can’t imagine myself doing that a few years ago.
County fairs do not have to be all about food, lapbanded living does not mean you have to eat "special food", and being successful with a lap band is about making mindful food choices.
Every weekend I go to my local farmers' market and this time of year the choices are amazing. The most beautiful groupings of fruits, vegetables and flowers are on display.
I hope others considering staying in a hotel find this information helpful. What I had at first thought would be a major inconvenience, turned out to be a major convenience!
