Italian Style Turkey Cheese Burgers
Grill them, broil them, cook them in an air fryer or just on top of the stove in a skillet that’s been sprayed with non stick. Any way you cook them they are sure to hit the spot.
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces Ground Turkey (93% Lean)
- 2 ounces Basil Pesto Cheese
- 5 ounces of Chopped Onion
- 2 ounces of Pasta Sauce (I used Trader Joe’s Rustico Sauce which is 45 calories per 4 ounces)
- 1 ounce Chopped Red Bell Pepper
- 6 Fresh Basil Leaves Chopped
- Pinch of Granulated Garlic
- Italian Seasoning to Taste
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients except the cheese in a bowl and make into 6 equal size meatballs
- Cut the cheese into 6 equal pieces
- Flatten the meatballs in your hand, pop the cheese onto the center, fold the sides in and flatten into a burger again - Repeat until all 6 burgers are made
- I place these on a plate in my refrigerator before cooking for at least an hour. Getting them cold again helps keep them together when cooking
- Cook via your preferred method (grill, broil, air fry or stove top) until done on 1 side (about 5 minutes on a medium high grill), flip, and cook until done all the way through
- Serve hot with the sides of your choice
