Long Term Lap Band Success When I first began my journey in 2004 there were not many bariatric products available.  As time went on and weight loss surgery became more popular, many more products were introduced for the bariatric patient.  I am not just talking about vitamins.  I am talking about shakes, pudding mixes, snack chips, soups, protein bars, full meals, and everything in between.

Long Term Lap Band Success Today there are literally thousands of bariatric products, some specifically geared to those of us who have had weight loss surgery, and some just “weight loss” or “healthy” products.  In my first year or two after surgery I probably tried 30-40% of the products available and probably tossed out at least 50% of those after one taste.  Don’t take me wrong, there are some fabulous bariatric products out there, and they all serve a very necessary place in our lives at various times.

Long Term Lap Band Success My personal key to long term success was learning how to eat REAL FOOD.  That means maybe a couple of protein shakes a week as needed, but real food, grown on farms, and/or raised on ranches, in combinations that are delicious and weight loss surgery friendly as well as providing the protein required to keep me satisfied.  That’s how I shed 250 pounds forever.

Long Term Lap Band Success To this end - the search for REAL DELICIOUS NUTRITIOUS food, I have included hundreds of recipes on my website for your viewing and eating pleasure - some of them are mine, some have been submitted by others.  I co-authored a cookbook with another hugely successful weight loss surgery patient and we titled it:  EAT YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS AND LEARN HOW TO CONTROL HUNGER.  It includes some of each of our favorite recipes with portion size, calories, and protein all worked out for you.  There are also thousands of recipes all over Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and the web.

Wherever you choose to get your recipes, I encourage you to make it your business to eat REAL FOOD that tastes good AND provides you with the nutrition required to get to your goal and maintain it.
