As I left the gym this morning I was thinking about how much better I felt after my workout then before I went in.  Then I looked at the sky which was grey with the heavy morning marine layer.  Ugh… I need sunshine.

Then I looked at the cars in the parking lot.  Ninety percent of them were gray, black, dark blue or dirty white.  And then there was my Caribbean blue Mini.  I smiled.  I didn’t have sunshine, but I had bright, shiny Caribbean Blue.

As I approached my car I realized that when I began this journey over 14 years ago I would not have begun to fit behind the steering wheel of a Mini, even with the seat back as far as it would go.  Besides the fact that my feet wouldn’t reach the pedals, my belly would have overtaken the steering wheel.  I smiled again.

Then I looked down.  My short legs have me pushing the seat up pretty close, yet I have enough room to bend my left knee straight (I could even fold it under me if I choose, and comfortably drive the car.  Lots of space between me and the steering wheel.  I smiled again.

Although I was tired from a night of tossing and turning, I was still able to find these little non-scale victories that mean so much.

There are so many more, but I’d rather hear yours.  Please take the time to respond and share with us your non-scale victories.

When you stop and smell the roses, and realize the progress you have made, the smiles come more easily.

Stop and share your roses.  We all want to smile.
